About Me

Greetings, my name is Patrick Chan! I am a fourth-year mathematics PhD student at Indiana University Bloomington under the advisement of Jim Davis. I completed my undergraduate degree in mathematics at Loyola University Chicago. Mathematically, I am interested in low dimensional topology, in particular manifolds in the fourth dimension and their cobordisms using handles and surgery.

Musically, I am a baritone interested in American and British art song. I also have a love of musical theatre (in particular Sondheim).

Engineering-wise, I am in Vincent Chen’s biomedical engineering lab with my most recent work focusing on neural imaging using electroencephalogram (EEG), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
